Financial firm heads are rushing to buy back their firms' shares to prevent their stock prices from further declining. The move also aims to demonstrate their confidence in their firms' future stock prices.

According to KEB Hana Bank, CEO Ji Sung-kyoo bought back 4,000 Hana Financial Group shares shortly after he was inaugurated as the bank's CEO on March. 22. The share price was 37,000 won ($32.58) per share, and he bought a total of 148 million won worth of shares.

Woori Financial Group Chairman Sohn Tae-seung also bought back 5,000 group shares on March 15, and another 5,000 shares March 25. Sohn now owns 48,127 shares in Woori Financial Group.

KB Financial Group Chairman Yoon Jong-kyoo paid 43,050 won per share to add 1,000 group shares earlier this month. He currently holds 21,000 shares in the group.

Following Yoon's lead, KB Kookmin Bank CEO Hur Yin also bought a further 3,062 of the bank's shares. He paid 42,401 won per share to obtain a total of 129.83 million won worth of shares. He now has 5,062 shares in KB Kookmin Bank.

A series of financial company heads' moves to buy their company shares indicate their company stock prices are hitting the bottom.

According to the Korea Exchange, the share price of KB Financial Group was nearly 70,000 won per share in January last year, but has since declined to reach the 41,000 won per share level this month.

The share price of Hana Financial Group, likewise, stood at around 56,000 won per share earlier last year, but closed at 36,100 won per share on March 27.

BNK Financial Group also suffered a nearly 50 percent decline in its share price from 11,000 won to 6,700 won per share over the year.

"The share price of Woori Financial Group recently suffered an excessive decline due to mounting uncertainties in the global economy, " said a Woori Financial Group official.

"Chairman Sohn bought the group shares once again to display his confidence in Woori's future businesses and share prices. This also demonstrates he will do his utmost to secure the group shareholders' best interest."

Market analysts agree with the financial groups' optimism.

"I believe major banks will continue their earning trend this year as well. They are also expanding their payout ratio," said Kyobo Securities analyst Kim Ji-young.

"There is no reason for them to suffer further decline in their share prices. We have recently raised their target stock prices."

Kyobo Securities set Hana Financial Group's target price at 52,000 won, Shinhan at 59,000 won and KB at 57,000 won per share.

영어 말하기 교육(이하 말하기)은 외국어 학습자에게는 늘 큰 난관이죠. 반을 운영하는 선생님은 오류 수정의 방식, 발음, 강세, 담화, 활동 등 다양한 영역을 두루 볼 수 있어야 해요.

[영어 말하기 교육의 목표]

말하기의 목표는 Communicative competence를 키워주는 거예요. communicative competence 안에는 3가지 competence가 있어요.

Discourse competence: 문장을 논리적으로 연결하는 능력이에요.

Sociolinguistic competence: 상황에 맞는 말을 선택할 수 있는 능력이에요.

Stategic competnece: 끝으로 전략적인 능력은, 학습자가 부족한 능력을 보완 (다른 어휘, 다른 문장 사용 등) 하는 능력이에요.

[영어 말하기 교육의 원칙]

말하기 수업에서 학습자는 3가지 원칙 아래 수업을 진행해요.

1) Negotiation for meaning (의미 협상): 이 과정에서 학습자는 문법, 어휘 능력이 동시에 향상될 수 있어요.

2) Personalization (개인화): 배울 지식은 학습자의 흥미와 관심에 맞아야 해요. 그래야 수업의 진행이 더 동기가 넘치게 (?) 유지할 수 있어요.

3) Noticing the gap (=차이 인지): 학습은 학습자가 가진 지식과, 배워야 하는 지식의 차이를 인지하는 것에서부터 시작해요. 

[영어 말하기 교육의 중점]

말하기 수업을 정확성 (=발음, accuracy)에 중심을 둘 것인지, 유창성 (fluency)에 중심을 둘 것인지 고민해야 해요. 다만 말하기 수업은 최근에 유창성에 더 중심을 두고 있어요. 

말하기 발음의 정확성도 중요하지만, 언어 학습에 가장 궁극적인 기능은 의사소통이라는 점에서 얼마나 말하고자 하는 바를 잘 전달하고, 소통을 매끄럽게 이어갈 수 있느냐를 중시하는 거죠!

1) PPP 방법으로 학습자의 정확성을 향상시킬 수 있어요: Presentation practice produce, 미리 학습할 요소를 정해 놓고 수업을 연습, 발화하는 것이죠.

2) TBI 방법으로 학습자의 유창성을 향상시킬 수 있어요: task based instruction, task란 실생활에서 발생하는 상황을 해결하는 하나의 활동을 의미해요. 상황을 해결하는 과정에서 의미 협상이 발생하고, 유창성이 향상되죠!

[영어 말하기 교육이 잘 진행되는 교실+ 그렇지 않은 교실의 특징]

말하기 수업에 적극적인 교실은 말하기에 두려움이 없어요, 모든 학생들이 균등하게 대화에 참여해요, 외국어에 대해 거부감이 적고 끝으로 동기가 높은 상태에요. 

하지만 말하기 수업에 적극적이지 않은 교실은 학생들의 말 하기 동기가 매우 낮아요, 대화에 참여하지 않으려 하고, 모국어를 사용하려고 하고, 말 자체를 거부하죠.

이를 해결하기 위해 선생님은 조별 활동을 실시해요. 조별 활동을 통해서 

첫 번째 학습자의 감정적 필터를 낮추고( 높으면 학습에 힘들어요), 

두 번째 학습자들이 원하는 토픽으로 대화를 진행해요, 

끝으로 각 그룹의 리더를 정해서 균등하게 대화가 이어지게끔 유도해요.

[영어 말하기 교육 활동]

활동으로는 information gap, jigsaw, role play, simulation이 있어요. 각각의 활동은 정보교환, 유창성 향상에 집중한 활동이에요.

[영어 말하기 교육 feedback]

말하기에 있어서 학습자 피드백은 매우 중요해요. 사실 모든 활동에서 피드백은 항상 중요하죠. 강점을 우선 칭찬하고, 학생에게 발생한 오류를 직접적으로 수정하기보다는 힌트를 제공해야 해요.  바로 답을 제공하지 않는 이유는, 답을 제공받은 학생은 생각을 멈춘다고 해요. 하지만 힌트만 제공되었을 때 학생들은 자신이 만든 오류가 무엇인지 생각하고, 수정하는 과정을 거쳐 지식으로 내재화할 수 있게 되다고 해요!

Kakao Bank has launched a service to help its customers open a securities service account, the firm said Tuesday. 

The new service will be offered in cooperation with Korea Investment and Securities, a subsidiary of Korea Investment Holdings. Under the collaboration, a Kakao Bank customer will be allowed to open an account with Korea Investment and Securities with a simple click of a button.

The simplified procedure will provide a more user-friendly service, as similar procedures offered by other brokerages included submission of statements specifying personal information including name, home addresses and phone numbers. 

Various promotional events are taking place including offering an immediate balance of 20,000 won ($17). Half will be wired to the bank account and the other half to the securities account. 

Those who trade Korean stocks after opening a brokerage account through Kakao Bank will be given an additional 5,000 won per month for up to one year. The amount will be given regardless of the minimum transaction requirements. Brokerage commission fees will be exempted for an unlimited period of time for customers who use the home trading system or mobile trading system.

"This is a meaningful cooperation. This is our first joint project whereby consumer experience will be significantly improved as our tailored service will maximize their satisfaction," a Kakao Bank official said. Kakao Bank plans to expand the service to make it available to more brokerages in the coming months. The bank plans to expand the service to strengthen mobile and online platforms. 

"Possible services to be pursued include selling funds, or insurance products in the form of bancassurance. We are open to all options to broaden our business perspective," he added.

Nearly six in 10 married women in South Korea think they should provide financial support for their offspring until graduation from college, a poll showed Friday.

According to the survey of 11,205 married women, 59.2 percent of the respondents said they think it appropriate to financially support their children until college graduation.

The state-run Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs carried out the survey on women aged 15 to 49 last year.

Another 17.4 percent replied they should give financial help to sons and daughters until they find jobs; 14.7 percent, until they graduate from high school; and 7.1 percent, until they get married.

According to the same survey taken three years ago, 62.4 percent of the respondents replied they should provide financial help for their children until their graduation from college.

The latest findings also showed the average monthly child support expense came to 733,000 won (about $650) for households with one child last year, 1.37 million won for two-child families and 1.62 million won for three-kid homes.

Spending on education accounted for about 49 percent of the total for households with two to three children and nearly 36 percent for one-child families.

South Korean parents are known for enthusiasm about children's education, which is widely seen as the key to success in the competitive society.

2. 대학과 수시, 수능, 학종에 대해 할 말 많지만 못하겠네요. 교육학 수업 들을 때도 열띤 토론의 장이었죠. 수시가 과연 의미 있는가, 그들이 말하는 입발린 소리 (=과정의 평가, 자율성, 평등, 수시 등등)가 진짜 믿을 만한 소리가? 최소한의 객관성과 신뢰도도 확보 못한 시험을 믿을 가치가 있는가? 억울한 학생은 없을까 (숙명여고 사건, 최순실 딸 사건) 등등 말이죠.
