늘 얘기하지만, 18~23번은 정말, 진짜, 정말로 맞추고 들어가야 하는 문제예요! 난이도도 쉽고, 시간도 얼마 안 걸려요! 그래서 오늘은 2 문제를 한 번에 하려고요! 아 물론 내용은 전부 안 읽어요, 쌤이 늘 말하죠? 우리에게 필요한건 약간의 전략과 MSG 같은 추론 능력이라고요!!

VIEW! 보기에서 키워드 잡는건 기본!

1) 키워드, 주인공, 방향을 미리 잡고 지문을 예측하기!

 

VIEW! 목적, 편지글 형식의 문제는 두괄식+ 미괄식 주의하세요

1) 두괄식: 앞-요구사항 + 뒤- 이유

2) 미괄식: 앞-상황 설명+ 뒤- 요구사항

 

VIEW! 특정 단어에는 체크하면서 읽는 습관을 만드세요

1) 조동사류 뜻에 당위성, 의무, 강제가 있어요: must, should, have to, ought to, would 등

2) 동사류 뜻에 원하다, 요청하다 의미: want, ask, 등  

 

VIEW! 심경변화 문제는 형용사가 제일 중요해요 그 다음은 동사!

 

 

18. 목적

Dear Mr. Spencer,
I will have lived in this apartment for ten years as of this coming April. I have enjoyed living here and hope to continue doing so. When I first moved into the Greenfield Apartments, I was told that the apartment had been recently painted. Since that time, I have never touched the walls or the ceiling. Looking around over the past month has made me realize how old and dull the paint has become. I would like to update the apartment with a new coat of paint. I understand that this would be at my own expense and that I must get permission to do so as per the lease agreement. Please advise at your earliest convenience.

>> 이렇다 할 정보를 잡을 수 없으면 바로 미괄식 기준으로 넘어가요

 

 

미괄식 기준: 

I (S)/would like to update(V)/ the apartment(O)/ with a new coat of paint(pre+N)/. I (S)/understand(V)/ [(접속사)/ that this (S)/would be(V)/ at my own expense(pre+N)/ and(등위접속사)/ that I(S)/ must get(V)/ permission (O)/to do (toV)/so as per the lease agreement(pre+N)/. 

 

1) would like to RV = want 에요, 주인공이 원하는 행동이 편지에서 나타난다 = 목적이다!

>> 주인공은 갱신하길 원해요

>> 여기서 갱신은 도색, 즉 보기에서 잡은 키워드 중 아파트, 도색 이 등장했어요

 

2) must에서 사실상 게임이 끝나요. must는 "(반드시)~ 해야 한다"라는 의미예요. 

>> 주인공은 갱신(=도색) 하기 위해서는 허가가 반드시 있어야 해요

 

 

답은 ③  아파트   도색  작업에   대한  허락을 받으려고

 

 

 

 

 

19. 심경

Something inside told me that by now someone had discovered my escape. It chilled me greatly to think that they would capture me and take me back to that awful place. So, I decided to walk only at night until I was far from the town. After three nights’ walking, I felt sure that they had stopped chasing me. I found a deserted cottage and walked into it. Tired, I lay down on the floor and fell asleep. I awoke to the sound of a far away church clock, softly ringing seven times and noticed that the sun was slowly rising. As I stepped outside, my heart began to pound with anticipation and longing. The thought that I could meet Evelyn soon lightened my walk.

 

[전략 1: 보기 키워드 잡기]

 

① moved → nervous : 감동> 신경질

② fearful → hopeful : 두려움> 희망
③ lonely → annoyed : 외로움 > 귀찮은

④ sympathetic → amused : 동정> 즐거움
⑤ sorrowful → frightened : 슬픔 > 공포

 

>> 보기의 감정의 순서에 따라 지문이 진행돼요, 즉 앞에서 해당하는 감정을 찾았으면 바로 다음 감정을 찾기 위해 아래로 넘어가요

 

[전략 2: 지문 scanning + 형용사, 동사 잡기]

가로 줄은 scanning으로 넘어갔다는 뜻!

1) 동사: 나를 발견하다. 나는 잡힌다

2) 형용사: chilled, awful

>> 누군가가 나를 잡고, 오한이 생기고, 무서운 장소에 가둔다

>> 앞의 내용으로 보기에서 가능한 감정은 fearful!

>> 보기의 감정들이 극명하게 갈려서 사실 답은 2번이 유력해요 하지만 확인은 끝까지!

2) 형용사: 부드럽게 울리고, 천천히 떠오르고, 발걸음은 가볍다.

>> 급박했던 앞의 상황과는 전혀 다른 분위기가 발생했어요

>> 교회의 종소리, 태양, 가벼운 발걸음은 hopeful이라는 감정으로 충분하게 설명이 가능해요!

>> 보기 4번의 amused도 가능하다면 가능하지만, 앞에서 찾은 감정이 fearful이기 때문에 탈락!

 

 

답은 ② fearful → hopeful : 두려움> 희망
